When done properly by a trained professional, eyelash extensions will be your newest obsession. There is a common misconception that they are only for high maintenance girls and boys; even the most low maintenance people can benefit. Save that extra 5-10 minutes in the morning curling, priming, and applying mascara and get ready to love your newest additions. 1. What are eyelash extensions? There are two different kinds of eyelash extensions, classic and volume. Classic lashes are one single extension placed on one natural lash. Volume lashes are much finer extensions placed in multiples (or fans as we call it in the industry) on one natural lash. Every set of extensions is completely customized to each clients preference, eye shape and natural lashes. 2. How long should you expect it take? if it’s too good to be true; it is! Even the most experienced lash artist will still require at least an hour to do almost every full set and most fills. Timing does depend on desired result and each clients natural lashes. Plan for an hour and a half for classic lashes and There are no trained and licensed professionals that charge 20/40 dollars and take 20 or 30 minutes to do actual eyelash extensions. With that amount of time and money you would likely be getting cluster lashes(can be purchased at a drug store, look like chunks of strip lashes) glued to the lash line with semi permanent glue which can cause damage to the natural lashes. 3. How long do lash extensions last? When cared for properly, lash extensions will last a full growth cycle of the natural lashes. This varies from person to person but is typically about 6 to 8 weeks. It is normal to lose 2-5 lashes per day per eye. To keep them full and fresh fills are required at least every 4 weeks. Most clients prefer to come every 3 weeks. 4. How do I care for them? The great news - lash extensions are waterproof and sweat proof. Avoiding oils on and around the lashes is key to retention as oil breaks down the glue used to adhere the lash extensions which will cause them to shed prematurely. That includes any skin care products like face wash, eye cream, makeup remover, moisturizer and sunscreens. Avoid touching your lashes as there are oils on your fingers that will transfer to the lashes. Wearing eye makeup, particularly mascara and pencil eyeliner can also break down the glue. More good news - with your new lashes you shouldn’t feel the need to wear mascara at all! Wash and brush daily with a clean disposable mascara wand. Clean lashes are healthy lashes 5. Do extensions harm your natural lashes? In short - no. The reason each natural lash is isolated is to ensure that the natural lashes can each go through their own natural growth cycle without causing damage. Responsible lash artists know how much weight the natural lash can comfortably support, which helps them to determine proper length and thickness for each client. When applied properly and responsibly, lash extensions are completely safe so you can enjoy your new lashes stress free! Cant wait to see you for your next nap, don’t worry, its on us!
